Judge Criticizes Trump Administration in Removal Case
The U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Stephen Reinhardt labeled the Trump administration’s push to deport a father back to Mexico “inhumane” and “contrary to the values of this nation.” The petitioner, brought to the U.S. as a child, had lived in the United States for 28 years and was obtaining legal status through his U.S. citizen spouse. The judge reluctantly stated the court was forced to deny the petitioner’s request for a stay of removal due to a lack of authority and to “participate in ripping apart a family.”
